MacNavAid is a small software that provides distance calculations for latitude and longitude coordinates, as well as location tracking.
Although MacNavAid defaults to South and East for Longitude and Latitude, you can modify it to your preference with just a few clicks in the preferences tab. The software also features a cool creation by Stick Software, circular sliders, which add to its interface's general appeal. You can copyright information about these sliders from the About box or visit www.sticksoftware.com to learn more about them.
If you want to select a heading, try pressing the shift key while using the slider to do so. I have tested this software thoroughly, and I can attest to its high level of accuracy. However, I must mention that I did not create the formulae used in this program. I found them on Ed William's website, where he lists a varied range of aviation navigation formulae and examples of how to use them. Thus, I cannot guarantee their accuracy, even though they have worked well in my testing. So, please don't be foolish enough to rely solely on this freeware for navigation planning, or you might get lost, hurt, or worse.
Please use this software only as a quick approximation of your coordinates. Kindly appreciate that this software will not get any updates. It's a test designed for a class used on a more extensive project, and I wanted to share it with the public. Lastly, comments are always welcome! Just remember to use your map with your protractor and scale rule before relying on any program for navigation in real-life situations.
