Malibo facilitates the creation of blogs on websites. This software enables users to effortlessly and efficiently create and publish their blog contents online.
The software is based on PHP and is designed to run on an Apache webserver. Malibo requires Apache webserver 1.3 or newer, as well as PHP 5.1 or newer and MySQL 5.0 or newer (although PostgreSQL may also work). It is important to note that the webserver is used to do user authentication, and other webservers besides Apache may work if HTTP basic authentication is supported (e.g., via .htaccess file).
At present, there is no installation tool for Malibo, so users must manually install it with a good understanding of the target system. The basic installation steps include: extracting the contents of malibo.tar.gz in a directory on the web server (and password-protecting this directory until the installation is complete), setting up database tables using the SQL statements in the "installation" subdirectory (adjusting the SQL statements if other table names will be used), moving the database configuration file "template/mlb_config.inc.php" to a secure location outside the web-accessible area, adjusting index.php and edit/index.php to the new location of the database configuration file, inserting database access data into the configuration file, password-protecting the "edit" subdirectory, setting write permissions for everyone on the "user" subdirectory (but only there!) to allow file uploads, and inserting the configuration of the web project (e.g., title, author, etc.) into the database table mlb_config.
Overall, Malibo is a simple and intuitive tool that is perfect for those looking for a user-friendly way to create a blog on their website. While it may lack some of the advanced features of more complex software, its simplicity and ease of use make it a valuable tool for many users.
