MaliGNUz is a lightweight and speedy live distro based on Slackware, designed for tech-savvy users. It offers useful features and functionalities tailored to meet their needs.
For those of you who don't know what a live distro is, let us fill you in! It's a Linux distribution that can be used live without the need for installation. The system runs entirely in your computer's RAM and CD-ROM, making it a lightweight option for those who don't want to install anything onto their hard disk.
So, why did we create MaliGNUz? Simply put, we didn't like using something without understanding how it works. That's why we decided to develop our own live distro with all the features we wanted.
Speaking of features, MaliGNUz has plenty to offer. For one, it's a live distro, so no installation is needed. The iso file is also quite small, allowing you to burn it onto a small CD-ROM. It runs on kernel 2.4.32, which may seem outdated compared to more modern versions, but we found it to be a great kernel that is both complete and lightweight.
Another great feature of MaliGNUz is its ram check. If you have enough ram, the distro copies everything over to a ram disk and ejects the CD-ROM, allowing you to use the device freely. It also has v6 support (which is still a work in progress), wireless extensions, and tools like ettercap and other network utilities.
But perhaps one of the most interesting features of MaliGNUz is its ability to save sessions. This means that you can configure a scenario, network, and services like sshd, ftpd, and more, and work with it. You can save all your scenarios and configurations and then halt the system. The next time you boot up MaliGNUz, all your saved settings will be loaded, allowing you to jump straight back into your work.
Overall, MaliGNUz is an excellent option for those looking for a lightweight and customizable live distro. Its unique features and customizable configurations make it a versatile choice for anyone who wants to work on their own terms.
