MCNLive, created by MandrivaClub.nl in The Netherlands, is a live CD based on Mandriva, offering a range of features and functionalities.
One of the standout features of MCNLive is its sleek XFce desktop. Additionally, this live CD boasts the latest ad-free Opera 8.50 web browser, the comprehensive Mandriva Control Center, and a suite of multimedia applications. And despite all these features, the live CD is only 200MB in size!
Another impressive highlight of MCNLive is its graphical application for installing the operating system to a USB storage device. This makes it easy to create a portable version of the OS that can be used on any computer without needing to install the software on the hard drive.
The latest release of MCNLive, code-named "Toronto", introduces a range of new features to build upon the already impressive foundation left by the previous version, "Delft". These new additions include VirtualBox OSE, the KOffice suite, GIMP, gThumb, gxine, gFTP, Bluefish, Quanta, KAudioCreator, Kopete, KDE Bluetooth, a bundle of networking tools, and printer packages added.
The "Toronto" release also brings an improved isolinux bootsplash, which offers improved keyboard navigation that allows for easier selection of boot options. Additionally, there are different wallpapers to choose from and fixed (non-critical) error messages when shutting down the system in live CD persist mode.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed using MCNLive and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an intuitive, feature-packed live CD experience.
