MEKA is an emulator software that allows users to play Sega Master System and Game Gear games on a computer.
However, the sound support in MEKA can be choppy, so it's better to leave it out during compilation. That said, MEKA has an impressive debugger that comes with a range of debugging and hacking tools. The emulator is the result of several years of effort from a few different people. Omar Cornut "Bock" created the machine emulation, Graphical User Interface, tools, and other general features.
Several others contributed to the project, including Hiromitsu Shioya "Hiro-shi," Marat Fayzullin "Rst38h," Maxim, Mitsutaka Okazaki, and Ulrich Cordes. MEKA is a free emulator that you can download as a ZIP archive, which includes the program as well as additional data and documentation. Contributions are welcome and appreciated, and they help support both the MEKA and SMS Power! projects.
To use MEKA, you'll need to have Allegro, NASM, and SEAL installed on your computer. The latest version of MEKA includes a tile(map) viewer and other changes, such as the renaming of the main executable to 'MEKA' instead of 'MEKA.exe'. MS-DOS is no longer supported as of version 0.72, which allows for fundamental changes such as switching from paletted 8-bit color modes to 16/32-bit and using various graphics filters. Other planned changes include replacing Allegro with SDL and swapping the Seal Audio Library with FMOD or SDL.
