Menace is a software that displays regular network traffic alongside any attempted malicious activity, whether incoming or outgoing. It is a reliable tool for monitoring network security.
The software is built using PHP for the web pages and Python for the parser, both of which are dependent on a MySQL database. Its name stands for Managed Eye of Network Attacks with a Complete Engine.
To install Menace, there are two methods available. The first method involves setting up a database and user for Menace, running the ./install.sh command, and editing the db.php and scanner.py files in the web directory to include the created database details.
The second method, suitable for two or more servers, also requires setting up a database and user for Menace. However, in this case, cross-server connections must be enabled. After running the ./install.sh file on the DB server, you should edit the db.php and scanner.py files in the web directory and also copy the Parser Directory for the program to run successfully on other servers.
Menace requires Python and MySQL to run successfully. Overall, it is an excellent tool for network monitoring and management, with easy installation and simple configuration requirements.
