This software allows saving messages as text files on disks.
The latest update to Messages to Disk has introduced a number of useful features. Firstly, there is now a prompt for the location of the folder where the messages will be stored, helping you to stay organized. Another new feature is the ability to choose between different text file types including BBEdit, Tex-Edit Plus, and Simple Text, which is very helpful for those who prefer to work with a specific type of text editor. Additionally, you can add other program names and creator codes to the lists where "creatorNames" and "creatorTypes" are defined, giving you even more control over how your files are handled.
One of the best things about Messages to Disk is the progress report it provides after each message is saved, allowing you to keep track of what has been done. There is also an option to turn off the progress report if you don't find it useful. When all the files have been stored, the script will beep twice to let you know that the process is complete.
There were some bugs in the routine for creating file names when the first choice was already in use that have now been fixed. Previously, the script would sometimes get stuck in repeating the process in an attempt to find a valid name. Another new addition is the option to re-wrap the message text, removing hard line endings from the text to allow your text editor to soft wrap the text to your window size. However, if you prefer to keep the hard line endings, you can simply change the property "rewrapping" to false.
Overall, I have found Messages to Disk to be a very helpful tool for anyone who needs to save their messages quickly and easily. It's compatible with Entourage, and has proven to be a reliable and efficient script for me.
