This software is a free and open source tool that enables users to organize their e-books efficiently. It offers users easy access and management of their e-books, making it easier to read, search and find different types of e-books in one place.
One of MetaXplode's most interesting features is the MetaXplode Browser, which allows users to browse a catalog of e-books based on subject matter. This catalog is based on Amazon BrowseNodes, making it a reliable source for finding books on any topic of interest.
The software mainly works with PDF and CHM files, and it employs open JAVA libraries to extract and manipulate these file formats. MetaXplode uses PDFBox-0.7.3 and CHMPane_alpha2 open source libraries to extract text from e-books. It also uses Regex to identify and extract ISBN(s) from the text.
After extracting the ISBN(s), the software sends REST-based requests to Amazon ECS4.0 Web Service to retrieve XML-based meta data about the e-book. The meta data is then compared and validated with the original data and stored in the file system along with three cover sizes and the original e-book.
To make the browsing experience even more enjoyable, there is a master XML file in the project, which is the Amazon hierarchical BrowseNode system. Each time an e-book is updated, its ISBN is added to this master XML file, which allows the browsing section of the project to graphically let users browse the organized e-books and open the e-book file if they want.
Overall, MetaXplode is an excellent software for organizing and managing e-books. Its easy-to-use interface and automatic meta data generation make it a must-have tool for book lovers who want to keep their e-books organized and readily accessible.
