Mica PHP DataSystem is a powerful class-based database system for web developers working with PHP. Its aim is to provide an efficient solution for managing databases in PHP applications.
MDS2 is entirely structured in PHP and utilizes its file format called 'diz'. This file format includes an encryption library with a recognized method and in-house encryption. Additionally, it also uses gZip compression.
The purpose of using MDS2 is simple. Suppose anyone is in the process of developing a website or web-system that requires extensive data usage. In that case, there will be a perpetual debate over what database system they should use. MDS2 aims to solve this issue by releasing its product for free under the GPL. Furthermore, it does not try to copy MySQL, TxtSQL, or ODBC. Additionally, it has smart load-bearing solutions and can be used locally with minimal server lag.
Using 'MDS2 Native Tools' alongside PHP5, one can port their databases through other programming languages such as VB, C++, etc. Furthermore, it has a fairly gentle learning curve.
MDS2 can be run locally or via conventional webpage methods. Currently, only Microsoft Windows 98 or higher can run MDS2 as a stand-alone. However, the project intends to release a cross-platform version of 'Native Tools' shortly which will comfortably run on operating systems such as MacOS, Unix, & Linux.
