This software suite allows for video capture, simple editing, playback, and compression to MPEG-1/2 video format.
One great feature of this software is that it supports recording for a range of different Zoran-based cards, including the Buz (Iomega), DC10 (MIRO, Pinnacle), Matrox Marvel, and LML33 (Linux Media Labs) cards. To find the driver that's right for your card, simply refer to the related pages on the right-hand side of the interface.
Once you've recorded your videos, you can easily convert them to MPEG streams. The playback feature also works seamlessly with virtually every player and operating system out there. Additionally, you can use MJpeg tools to produce specialized forms of MPEG streams, such as VCD (Video CD) and SVCD for hardware playback.
One of the major objectives of this software is interoperability with other video tools. With MJpeg tools, you can even use it to edit, playback, and compress motion JPEG (MJPEG) AVI's captured using the xawtv package. Plus, it's compatible with MJPEG streams created and edited with broadcast 2000.
One final thing to note: MJpeg tools software comes with a high bit-rate MPEG encoder known as mpeg2movie. It's important to keep in mind that this encoder is largely derived from an outdated snapshot of the MJpegtools MPEG encoder.
