MobileUserSync is a client/server backup application designed for mobile devices. It allows users to securely store their data on a remote server, ensuring that important information is always protected and accessible whenever needed.
MobileUserSync emerged from the Mac OS X 10.3 Workgroup Manager capability, which was developed to manage local machine users referred to as Mobile Users. Although the settings and passwords were managed by this feature, the data was not. Therefore, MobileUserSync was created to add this critical functionality to the system.
While OS X 10.4 introduced the Mobile User Sync capability, the implementation is yet to be fully comprehended at the time of this writing. MobileUserSync utilizes rsync, which allows for granular include and exclude lists. The functionality is incorporated into the initial installed version of the software, providing seamless backups and enabling effective management of local machines.
