Mony is a flexible, fast, and scalable tool for monitoring ICMP.
The program ensures that there is no flooding effect as it programs the tests. For instance, if there are ten hosts to be tested in ten seconds, it sends one test each second. This tool uses SO_TIMESTAMP for very fine RTT precision, and its modular structure makes it very easy to add new db layers or proc layers.
Mony also offers the convenience of a fping-like mode, where it reads targets from stdin, runs in the foreground, dumps stats to stdout, and exits. With Mony, installation is a breeze: just run "./configure," edit Makefile (if necessary), and type "make."
Overall, Mony is a highly recommended tool for anyone looking for a dependable ICMP monitoring solution that offers excellent flexibility, scalability, and speed.
