The free software, mp32rtp, simplifies the streaming process by directly streaming an RTP stream from mp3 files, without requiring extensive configuration of a streaming server.
- Transmit from MPEG audio file, random playback of a whole directory or from an MPEG Internet radio
- Independent on bitrate, works with CBR, VBR, ABR, various MPEG versions and layers, and can handle changes in them at any time.
- Tested to run on Linux, Windows/cygwin, OpenBSD and should run on other UNIX systems.
- Can send broadcast, multicast or unicast
- Multiple streams can be run by running more instances in parallel
- Can also send raw UDP without the RTP header
- Doesn't require additional libraries, ensuring negligible resource requirements
To use mp32rtp, simply enter "./mp32rtp IP_address port < options >" into your terminal. Here are some of the options available:
- "-i IP_address" sets the target address (may be a broadcast). The default is 192.168.0.255.
- "-p port" sets the target port. The default is 1234 and it also accepts 0x.
- "-u" allows you to use raw MPEG in UDP instead of RTP.
- "-s seqno" sets the initial sequence number and it accepts 0x format as well.
- "-t timestamp" sets the initial timestamp and also accepts the 0x format.
- "-j jitter" sets random timing jitter (in seconds) with a default of 0.
- "-f multiplier" lets you send faster (>1) or slower (<1) than the original speed.
Overall, mp32rtp is a great option if you want to stream your mp3 files without having to set up a complicated streaming server. It's easy to use and doesn't require any additional libraries, making it a great choice for all users.
