MP3SQL helps to store and manage MP3 files with their MP3Tags in an SQL database like MySQL by enabling indexing capabilities.
To use MP3SQL efficiently, there are some prerequisites one must have. Firstly, you would require PERL, and the software has been tested with Perl 5.005_02. Moreover, it is recommended that you install MySQL or any other preferred SQL server package into your system. Additionally, you would require Apache with PHP3. Finally, you need to have mpg123 (or something similar), cat head tail random to run the player.sh.
Once you have met all these requirements, you can easily copy the addtoplaylist.cgi to your cgi-bin directory and chmod/chown in any way you desire. However, for the player.sh to run smoothly, ensure the user running it has write permissions to /tmp/playlist. Furthermore, to ensure that the player.sh works correctly, you should create an /tmp/allmp3files folder that includes all your online MP3s.
In the latest version, 1.1.0.1, MP3SQL has added an impressive playlist add possibility from the web interface. Additionally, there is a script that reads the playlist and randomizes MP3 files from all your files when there are no more entries in the playlist!
Overall, MP3SQL is a must-have for any music enthusiast as it makes managing your MP3 files a breeze.
