Mup software creates PostScript output for printed music from a text file. Input the text file and get a printable music format.
Mup offers a wide range of features to fine-tune your output to meet your specific needs. With up to 40 staffs, you can include 1-line, 5-line, and tablature staffs, and restrict output to any subset of staffs. Additionally, up to 3 independent voices per staff can hold up to 70 simultaneous notes. You can also include note styles like normal, grace, cue, X, diamond, and plus-shaped notes.
The software also supports time signatures, clefs, barline styles, guitar grids, and many other features like crescendo/decrescendo marks, rolls, ornaments, fermatas, and more. The comprehensive User's Guide provided in both PostScript and HTML formats includes many examples and can be fine-tuned to generate different outputs based on values of parameters.
Mup also offers optional MIDI file output, which is very useful for "proof-listening" to check for input mistakes. PostScript output is provided for printing on any PostScript compatible output device and can be used with Ghostscript. Macros and 'include' files are available, and Mup will determine how to lay out the music, but there are numerous user controls available to fine-tune the output to meet specific needs.
This latest release adds new features requested by users, including support for user-defined symbols, several new parameters affecting layout and how accidentals are used, a new way to force alignment, an HTML index, and various other enhancements.
Don't hesitate to try out Mup for free via ftp, and if satisfied, shareware registration is far lower than the cost of most music publication software.
