Nageographer is a software tool that serves as an editor for visual host status maps created by Nagios. It allows users to easily manage and maintain their monitoring system by providing a simplified interface for monitoring individual hosts and their statuses in real-time.
In order to use Nageographer, a local copy of your Nagios configuration is required. By default, it will look for the configuration in ~/Library/Nagios. This should have a copy of the contents of your/etc/nagios directory in ~/Library/Nagios/etc and a copy of the logos directory, which contains the icons, in ~/Library/Nagios/logos. However, you have the option to change this location in the preferences.
When you launch the application, it will not do anything. To get started, select Open from the File menu and locate your hostextinfo.cfg file. In addition, it will need access to your hosts.cfg file to establish the links between hosts. This file can be found in the same directory as hostextinfo.cfg. The application only writes out hostextinfo.cfg when you save it. Note that it is designed to work only with Nagios 1.2's config files.
