NESRomTool is a software that facilitates the extraction of graphics from Nintendo ROM files. It enables users to extract, modify and view graphics with ease.
Furthermore, the project's header contains some utility functions that allow for easy GUI building. Therefore, it is possible to create a GUI wrapper for this utility, making it even more user-friendly. I'm currently in the planning stages of creating a full OSX-based GUI, which will have additional features not available in any other editors of its type on any platform.
Moreover, anyone interested in creating a Windows, X, Classic MacOS, BeOS, or other GUI is welcome to join this collaborative project.
In the latest release, users will appreciate several new features added to the utility to improve their experience, including the ability to preview compound and strips of sprites in the terminal. Also, new features like verbose mode (-V), which is a capital V (not entirely implemented), and preliminary codes for extracting sprites from PRG banks and sprite strip injection are now available.
In conclusion, NESRomTool remains an excellent utility for extracting and injecting graphics and program data for NES ROM files, and with its console-only feature intact and the option to build a GUI wrapper for it, it makes it a versatile tool for all levels of users.
