This software offers prioritization for multiple Domain Name System Blacklists (DNSBLs), allowing users to filter out spam and other unwanted content. The tool offers an efficient way to manage online security and ensure a safer browsing experience.
The multi_dnsbl daemon, which is implemented by Net::DNSBL::MultiDaemon, is a DNS emulator that interrogates DNSBLs in order of the greatest successful hits. DNSBLs that do not respond within the configured timeout are not interrogated at all after six consecutive failures. After that, they are retried not more often than once an hour until they come back online. This eliminates the need to place DNSBLs in a particular order in your MTA's config file or to periodically monitor the DNSBL statistics and/or update the MTA config file.
Net::DNSBL::MultiDaemon shares a common configuration file format with the Mail::SpamCannibal sc_BLcheck.pl script so that DNSBL's can be maintained in a common configuration file for an entire mail installation. This feature simplifies the maintenance of DNSBL lists, making it a convenient tool for high volume email recipients.
In addition to optimizing DNSBL interrogation, multi_dnsbl may be configured to locally accept or reject specified IP's, IP ranges and to reject specified countries by 2 character country code. By adding a DNSBL entry of in-addr.arpa, IP's will be rejected that do not return some kind of valid reverse DNS lookup. Furthermore, IP's can be rejected that have a PTR record that matches a configurable GENERIC 'regexp' set.
To use Net::DNSBL::MultiDaemon, users can run the module with various arguments, such as the DNSBL zone, L and R values, and more. The bl_lookup function can also be used to perform DNSBL lookups with custom arguments.
Overall, Net::DNSBL::MultiDaemon is a robust and versatile software for optimizing DNSBL lookups and simplifying maintenance for high volume email recipients.
