Nettop is a software that displays varying packet types in a manner similar to the program Top.
The program was initially developed as a final project for a networking class during the freshman year of college. As such, feedback from users on its functionality and potential enhancements would be highly appreciated.
There is a Redhat RPM version of Nettop 0.2.3 available thanks to Andrew Pam. Users are required to have both libpcap and slang installed for the program to work. These packages can be found in the following URLs:
Currently, the software is not very portable and lacks autoconf. However, there is a lot of room for improvement, and any feedback or patches from users would be highly valued.
In the latest release, Nettop now reads from /etc/services and /etc/protocols files, while UDP ports can now be displayed. There have also been improvements made to the installation scripts, and the code is now indented.
