A free software that reveals caller ID data, available as an open-source application.
The NCID software package includes a server component called ncidd, which monitors modems, devices, or gateways for caller ID data. This data is then sent over TCP to one or more client devices. Multiple gateways are supported, and they can be used with or without a modem or device.
The universal client component called ncid displays the caller ID data and server log in a GUI window. There are also various output modules that can be used to change the client output, such as one that can speak the caller ID aloud, or another that can send it to a pager or cell phone. You can even display caller ID information on a TiVo or MythTV with the appropriate module.
NCID also includes two SIP gateways, which can be used to obtain caller ID information from a VOIP system using SIP Invite. And finally, there's a YAC gateway that can obtain caller ID information from a YAC server.
Overall, NCID offers a flexible and customizable solution for anyone looking to distribute caller ID data over a network.
