Newsstar gathers and uploads news to a nearby server.
Designed for Unix-like systems, all the development of Newsstar was done on Linux. Although there are already numerous programs to do the same thing, Newsstar stands out due to its ability to make multiple simultaneous connections, not just to one server, but to several, supporting up to 10 threads.
Before fetching each article, Newsstar checks that it hasn't been downloaded by another thread or in a previous session, and it can also pipeline requests to make better use of available bandwidth. The program was created by the developer due to the unreliable newsfeeds experienced with ISPs.
Newsstar is an excellent solution to fetch whatever articles your ISP has available while using the foreign server to avoid missing posts or getting them late. The software is distributed under the GPL, making it freely available for anyone to use. Give it a try and avoid dealing with unreliable or slow newsfeeds.
