An NFS protocol tool for accessing network files with ease.
By setting each Mac OS X system up as either an NFS server or an NFS client, users can easily offer or access files shared by other computers. Unlike other file sharing protocols built into Mac OS X, NFS does not have any limitations in terms of the number of concurrent users or connections. Furthermore, NFS can be automatically connected to servers without the need for any password entries.
NFS Manager is designed to incorporate the latest technologies available in Mac OS X, such as Bonjour, Open Directory or Kerberos. For networks that are set up as Kerberos realms, users can configure secure NFS with encrypted and authenticated connections.
It should be noted, however, that for version 10.5 Leopard, Apple has replaced nearly all NFS features in Mac OS X with new versions. Although these new features are still incomplete and considered a "work in progress", NFS Manager 3 tries to support the current state of Apple's NFS implementation as much as possible. Additionally, NFC Manager will alert users when features that are not yet implemented or where limitations still apply are being used. As more information about Apple's plans for NFS support in Mac OS X Leopard becomes known, NFS Manager will be updated accordingly to keep pace with the changes.
