Nicq is a Linux-based ICQ client, aptly named NewICQ. It offers a new and improved interface for ICQ users.
Nicq is essentially a brand new interface that takes inspiration from existing IRC clients to make using the ICQ protocol more accessible and user-friendly. Although the interface in the latest version is different from the previous version's, it's been updated for the better, and you'll see for yourself how much more enjoyable ICQ can be.
One point worth noting is that, until Nicq develops a graphical window to modify plugin options, users must navigate to the ~/.licq/nicq_gui.conf file to make any necessary changes. If you're installing a new version of the app, backup your options file and delete it before starting the latest version. Alternatively, you can add any missing options manually.
Now let's look at what changes have been made in the latest release. Firstly, headers options are now highly configurable, vastly improving the app's functionality. Additionally, the location of the nicq_gui.conf file has changed, and it's now found in the ~/.nicq/ directory. However, to access it, you'll have to make sure you've created the directory as stated in the INSTALL File. And finally, the update also contains numerous bug fixes to ensure a smoother experience for the user.
