NIKTARIX is a Live CD for the ppc platform, similar to Knoppix. It is a new software that operates on a CD and can be run directly from it, without installation.
NIKTARIX includes several features, such as kernel 2.6.11, KDE 3.3.2, UNIONFS, Mozilla/Firefox, OpenOffice, and GIMP, among others.
However, it is important to note that certain features are currently absent from NIKTARIX. Either these functionalities have not been ported yet or are incompatible with the ppc platform. Additionally, only English language strings are currently included, though users can request language support for specific needs.
NIKTARIX allows for the use of Knoppix cheatcodes by adding them to the end of the line in the OF prompt. UNIONFS, while useful, may take a while to load upon booting, requiring patience. The feature allows for the ability to install and remove .deb files, providing a similar experience to working on a hard disk while running from a CD.
To boot NIKTARIX, use the command "boot cd niktarix root=/dev/ram rw init=linuxrc" from the OF.
