Notification-daemon is a program that generates undemanding pop-up notifications.
You can easily install this software by following these simple steps. Firstly, navigate to the directory that contains the package's source code, then type "./configure" to configure the package for your system. If you are using "csh" on an old version of System V, you might need to type "sh ./configure" instead to prevent "csh" from trying to execute "configure" itself.
The configuration process may take a while, but it displays some messages that indicate the features being checked. Next, type "make" to compile the package, followed by an optional step where you can run any self-tests that come with the package by typing "make check". Finally, type "make install" to install the programs, data files, and documentation.
If you wish to remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory, type "make clean". On the other hand, if you want to remove the files that "configure" created, you can type "make distclean". Additionally, there is also a "make maintainer-clean" target, which is intended for the package's developers.
This software release comes with several new features and improvements. Firstly, it has fixed a compatibility issue with dbus-glib 0.72, Patch by Pawel Worach. It also features a transparent background window in the standard theme when compiled against GTK+ 2.10 and when using a composite manager, a patch by Matt Walton. Other improvements include fixing several rendering glitches with the borders in the standard theme and fixing a memory leak when removing a notification. Patch by Sven Wegener.
Moreover, the software has improved its accessibility support with the standard theme engine and clicking anywhere in a notification now closes the notification. Previously, this was only happening on the body text sometimes. All these features make Notification-daemon an even more valuable tool for instant notification management.
