np is a Perl-written, terminal-based NMEA parser.
The list of supported sentences includes $GPRMC, $GPGGA, $GPGSA, $GPGSV, and Garmin's proprietary $PGRME. In addition to providing access to GPS data, np features user-definable stylesheets to enable you to adapt the parser output to numerous application scenarios.
This software has been successfully tested on multiple flavours of Unix, as well as Win32 systems. However, it is worth noting that since Microsoft does not support POSIX device files, data can only be read from text files, STDIN or GPSD if you are using Win32 systems.
This updated version of np comes with many exciting features. For instance, it supports an enhanced range of GPS receivers, and its HTML interface has been partly rewritten. Besides, the parser has new command line options that provide improved flexibility in the handling of NMEA data.
Overall, if you are looking for a flexible and reliable NMEA parser, np is an excellent choice.
