nPULSE is a Unix-like operating system network monitoring software that is web-based.
Instead of developing new code, nPULSE relies on a range of excellent OpenSource (GPL) products, including Nmap, Perl, OpenSSL, Net::SSLeay, Mail::Mailer, Java Telnet App, and a modified version of miniserv.pl.
In terms of requirements, nPULSE needs Linux/Unix Version 2.1 or greater, Perl Version 5.004 or later, and Nmap Version 2.51 or later.
This latest release of nPULSE includes several new features, such as a large text field on the Detail page for extra notes, an edit shortcut on the filter overview display, support for over 105 host/os types, and more. nPULSE also now uses the CGI.pm Perl module to increase portability and has a scrolling box for the event log display (IE browsers only).
Several bugs have been fixed in this release, including a history graph bug, a display problem on Netscape browsers, an installation error on certain machines, and more. In addition, the code has undergone substantial rewriting and cleanup.
Overall, nPULSE is a highly capable network monitoring software that is worth considering for Unix-based systems.
