The Murrine engine gets a fresh look with a new GNOME theme that enhances its visual appeal.
Installing Obscure is a breeze. Simply right-click on your desktop and select "Change Desktop Background." From there, click on the "Theme" tab and drag and drop the theme's archive into the Appearance Preferences window. If everything goes well, you will receive a confirmation message informing you that the theme has been installed. To activate it, simply click on it from the list of available themes.
For those unfamiliar with GNOME, it is an international project aimed at developing a full-fledged desktop environment made entirely of free software. Its goal is to provide a graphical user interface that sits atop a computer operating system. This includes developing software development frameworks, selecting application software for the desktop, and working on the programs that manage application launching, file handling, and window and task management.
GNOME can be used on various Unix-like operating systems, most notably Linux, and is also available as part of the Java Desktop System in Solaris. Originally standing for GNU Network Object Model Environment, the GNOME project places significant emphasis on simplicity, usability, and a focus on making everything "just work".
