Oddity is a software that emulates the classic ARP Odyssey synthesizer. It offers a user-friendly interface and a range of diverse features that allow users to create unique sounds, just like the original analog hardware.
Oddity has several key features that make it stand out. Firstly, it provides extremely realistic analog modeling of classic ARP Odyssey, as well as two syncable oscillators, which are fully tunable throughout a six-octave range. It also has a sawtooth, sine, square, and variable pulse-width waveforms alongside white and pink noise generators. Monophonic and duophonic modes are also available.
Other key features of Oddity include a host-syncable LFO, ring modulator, resonant 24dB/octave low-pass filter, a high-pass filter, sample-and-hold, portamento, two envelope generators, and flexible modulation routing. With its 384 programmable presets, you can use timed morphing between presets, along with Flying Slider features, which supports full automation. It is compatible with RTAS (PC/Mac), VST 2.0 (PC/Mac), and Mac AU.
To use Oddity, you need a PowerMac G4 with 128MB RAM, VST 2.0, RTAS, or Audio Unit compatible host application for plug-in operation. However, there are certain limitations you should note. After about two hours of use, the background noise may become more and more disturbing. You also cannot save presets banks in demo version.
Overall, Oddity from GForce is a fantastic software that offers the most realistic analog modeling of the classic ARP Odyssey. It is suitable for professional musicians and beginners alike, offering a range of features and compatibility with most popular host applications.
