OnePad provides a suite of software programs that enable users to encrypt files utilizing one-time-pad encryption, ensuring enhanced security and confidentiality of sensitive data.
You may have read about one-time-pad encryption in Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon, and if so, you'll know that the trick to its strength is in ensuring that every key is used only once and is entirely random. If this is done correctly, hacking or cracking the encryption becomes extremely difficult.
However, be aware that to exchange keys with your intended recipient, you must have a secure means of communication. If a third-party intercepts your key, they'll be able to read the message.
It's important to note that our software's effectiveness depends heavily on the quality of the /dev/random device that we use to generate random keys. While Onepad will work, we cannot guarantee the keys' randomness. Therefore, if ensuring top-notch security is essential, consider using ccrypt or GNU Privacy Guard.
Our most recent update features a switch to a BSD-style license, as well as a Makefile change that allows the program to build with either BSD or GNU make. Give Onepad a try today!
