ScannerDaemon is the OpenAntivirus' virus scanner software.
You simply send a TCP file name to ScannerDaemon to start it scanning, and it will tell you if it detects any viruses. The scannerDaemon listens on localhost's port 8127 for absolute file and directory names, and reports 'OK' if no virus has been found, otherwise, it reports 'FOUND: ' if a virus has been detected.
Starting the ScannerDaemon is easy, all you need to do is type "java -jar ScannerDaemon.jar". As long as you don't forget the Credo-files, the scanner will listen on port 8127. You can also provide the name of the directory as a command-line parameter by typing: "java -jar ScannerDaemon.jar -credo.directory".
The latest release of ScannerDaemon has various new features, including adaptions to new listener and filter schemes. It is also equipped with bug fixes such as allowing more than one signature file in one credo file and closing files used by UPXFilter.
The software is continuously improved, with a view to optimizing the user experience, and consuming less memory for nodes, while the UPXFilter scans uncompressed and compressed files. With ScannerDaemon, you can rest assured that your files and entire system are well-protected, giving you the confidence to carry out your daily tasks uninterrupted.
