OpenFlash is an open-source software that enables flashing and reprogramming of flash BIOS chips.
The software is easy to use and comes equipped with a host of useful features. The qnxflash command line interface allows users to read, write and verify BIOS images stored on the chip. Other features include the ability to display the bios chip's device ID, report all verify errors, list supported devices and disable device ID checks.
Openflash has undergone several updates and has recently added new features to enhance its usability. Some of these updates include modifications to correct failures to exit Device ID mode on V4 Iopeners using RISE CPU. The method used to exit Device mode has also been changed from the one-step method to the three-step method.
In addition, code has been added to check that Device ID mode was exited successfully. If the first attempt fails, an additional 9 attempts will be made before giving up. A bug in WaitFlashComplete() has also been corrected, making it possible to detect timeout errors.
Other notable updates in the latest version of Openflash include doubling the loop count in WaitFlashComplete(), adding a -V switch to enable verbose error and status messages, and an -c switch which allows users to disable device ID checks.
Overall, Openflash is a highly efficient and reliable software that can help programmers and software enthusiasts work with flash BIOS chips. Its user-friendly interface and powerful features make it stand out among other similar software programs in the market.
