Opennap NG is a Napster-inspired server built on the Opennap framework.
This release includes major bug fixes, such as fixing Ghosts properly, resolving expired user issues, and introducing a ghost kill timer. The update also features a new configuration variable that prevents ghosts from logging back in and bouncing from server to server. In addition, it addresses server crashes when linking to an invalid nick already online and fixes a nasty crash issue when linking to a server with an invalid nick online.
The release also resolves minor bugs, including search issues on Linux and broken Debug. The update includes enhancements like increasing buffer length to improve memory return on *nix, fixing backwards bans and converting wasteful types.
Opennap NG also introduces new enhancements like extended statistics port, Operserv control over log_level, expanded whois information, dynamic filters file, and improved autogen.sh for easier compiling of dev code for FreeBSD users. However, there are still some known bugs, such as Ghost-synced users still out of sync, and users on lagged servers facing server hash entry mix-up issues.
Overall, Opennap NG is a remarkable software that offers significant improvements and new features for an enhanced user experience.
