OpenXML Document Viewer is a software tool designed to allow users to view and navigate files in the OpenXML format. With its user-friendly interface, the application provides a seamless solution for those needing to access and manage documents created in Microsoft Office or related programs.
OpenXML Viewer is an outcome of the feedback from participants of a series of Document Interoperability Initiative workshops. Available under the open source Microsoft Public License (MS-PL), OpenXML Viewer allows anyone to use the tools, submit bugs and feedback, or contribute to the project. This open source development model also ensures developers from all around the world can participate and contribute.
To install the OpenXML Viewer, simply unzip the OpenXMLViewer_linux_cmd.tar to a folder and execute the install.sh script using a su command prompt. The viewer will be available in /usr/local/bin for converting the document to xhtml.
When using the viewer, users can access a range of different options. For example, they can use the command ">OpenXMLViewer "/home/user/MyWordDocument.docx" /home/user/Documents" where the first parameter to OpenXMLViewer utility is the file to be converted, and the second parameter is the destination folder in which the converted files should reside. It's important to note that the user should have necessary permissions to write to the destination folder before starting.
