Ortograf is a software that enables users to play Scrabble against their Mac or with friends.
One classic game option involves each player taking turns opening their rack window and placing their letters on the board to form a word. Once the rack window is closed, points will be automatically counted, and the next player can take their turn. Another game option includes the Duplicate game. In this game, players have the same letters on their racks during each turn, and once everyone has played, only the word that scores the most points stays on the board. Each player keeps their points.
The Belgian game option is also similar to the Duplicate game, but with a twist. Each player's rack will contain a blank letter on each turn, and once the winning word is placed, the blank will return to the player's rack if the corresponding letter is available in the bag. If not, the blank will remain on the rack. The Prepared game, on the other hand, allows for the inclusion of letters that can create a 7-letter word, or more. Players can then place all letters and get the 50-point bonus.
The computer offers four different levels of play, with the beginner, intermediate, and expert modes playing at 70%, 80%, and 95% of their capacity, respectively. The Champ level plays at the maximum capacity of the computer.
There are some limitations to the game, including half the tiles being removed from the bag before each game, an inability to save or open a game, and the computer only being able to play at the beginner level. Additionally, Duplicate, Belgian, or Prepared games will end after four moves.
Overall, Ortograf is a fantastic software for Scrabble lovers who want to spend hours of challenging and fun-filled game play.
