OT2 is a software designed to manage bonsai collections on both *nix and windows systems. It provides an efficient way to organize bonsai trees and related data.
The basics features of OT2 include the ability to manage an unlimited number of trees and pots with their detailed characteristics. Users can sort trees according to their name, age, species, and also show them individually or as a subset, such as mature bonsai, potensai, kusamono, and more. It also enables users to record or schedule any work, remark, treatment, for each tree. Additionally, OT2 provides users with the option of adding as many pictures as they desire. Pictures are also resizable and can be moved to a repository while the original is saved elsewhere.
Users can see the complete history of a tree, pictures, and events displayed as a whole or separated on OT2. For rempotting events, they can choose the pot in which they want to put the tree. OT2 also offers a full-fledged installer/desinstaller and is free software according to FSF that comes with no limitations, customer code, and will always be free.
While the basics are impressive, the advanced features take OT2 to the next level. It provides an easy-to-use interface with tabbed navigation and integration with other image editors. Users can export their tree data to a set of HTML pages, which makes it easy for them to share information with others. OT2 offers Batch management of trees with progressive individualization, which is great for seedlings. It also provides data storage options in mySql servers, local or distant, which is a GNU/Linux only feature. The industry-standard SQL language is used to store data, ensuring that the user's data is safely kept and still belongs to them.
The latest update of OT2 was primarily bug fixes and improvements. The bug fixes include pot suppression not working, the order button not working, tree history view not updating, price of tree limited to 99, apostrophes doubling when re-entering text, crash when suppressing a picture, bugs in default picture management, spelling mistakes, and corrected bug preventing the program from running on non-English or french systems (e.g., german).
OT2's improvements include a new full-fledged windows installer, display values remembered from one session to the next, a new dialog to choose the default pic of a tree easily, automatic style setting for kusamonos as "without," no requirement for the shape of pots anymore, an HTML export assistant that permits background image and cascading style sheet, creation of a new tree no longer requiring too many details, and partially improving updating view when adding pictures.
OT2 is the perfect software for people who love to manage their bonsai collection. It is easy to use, free, and intuitive, with an impressive array of basic and advanced features that make it stand out from other bonsai collection management software out there.
