Oxygen-Refit is a software plugin that provides an icon theme specifically designed for the Gnome desktop environment. It offers a distinct visual style for icons on the system, improving the user experience for Gnome users.
For Debian and its derivatives like Ubuntu, installing the Oxygen-Refit theme is relatively easy. Simply add the apt-repo for accessing/updating the theme by adding "deb nebula main" to /etc/apt/sources.list. Note that the secret key is found in the nanolx-key package so you may want to install that too.
One excellent feature of Oxygen-Refit is its Script. You can modify the theme on-the-fly by opening a terminal, changing to the icon-folder and running one of many options. For instance, you can use "./change-type.sh" to configure oldschool, newschool, debian, gnome, fedora, gentoo, ubuntu, mandriva, oxygen, or kde menu logos. You can also select different folder colors and navigation icons. Newschool, bluefolder, newtrash, naviblue, and gnome are provided as default options.
All in all, Oxygen-Refit is a well-rounded and user-friendly icon theme for Gnome. It's obvious that a lot of thought and care has gone into its design and customizability.
