oz2remind converts OpenZaurus Opie calendar XML files to Remind format. Handy tool for easily migrating calendar data between two different file formats.
For those unfamiliar with Remind, it's a powerful and sophisticated calendar and alarm program that includes features such as a sophisticated scripting language, intelligent handling of exceptions and holidays, plain-text, PostScript and HTML output, timed reminders and pop-up alarms, and a friendly graphical front-end for those who don't want to learn the scripting language. Remind also supports both the Gregorian and Hebrew calendars and has support for 12 different languages.
It's worth noting the history of the OpenZaurus project, which was created as an alternative operating system for the Sharp Zaurus Personal Mobile Tool. The goal was to create a system (kernel + root filesystem) that was closer to what the developer community specifically desired by using the Sharp ROM as a base and making necessary alterations, bugfixes, additions, and removals to make the package more open. Today, OpenZaurus is built from the OpenEmbedded Build system, making it easy for users to build their own custom system images.
The requirements for oz2remind are simply Remind itself. This latest release of oz2remind includes the ability to convert from Remind format to Zaurus XML and can either parse the .reminders file directly or use the output of remind itself. Overall, oz2remind is a must-have tool for anyone using OpenZaurus Opie calendar and in need of quick and easy conversions to Remind format.
