This software is a free and open source wargame focused on the events of World War II.
One of the standout features of Panzer Combat II is its versatility when it comes to scales. Distances in the game are measured in distance units, with each unit equivalent to the length of a medium tank such as the Sherman. In 1:48 scale, each distance unit is equivalent to approximately 10 cm.
To play at this scale, you'll need a wooded and hilly gaming terrain of at least 2 meters. However, this terrain can be as simple as a piece of carpet with some books, stones, and other small objects used to simulate hills and rocks. For a more immersive experience, players can also add miniature houses, trees, and painted rivers to the terrain.
When beginning a game of Panzer Combat II, each player chooses a country (either Germany or the US) and scale models to build up their army. Each unit is represented by a playing card, which includes the unit's name, combat data, and other relevant information.
Players can even use the Combat Card Creator to design and personalize their combat cards before printing them out and gluing them onto the playing cards themselves. Each unit's combat data includes move range (how far it can move), anti-personnel fire range (range for attacking infantry and unarmoured vehicles), anti-tank fire range (range for attacking armoured vehicles), and defend value (protection value when hit by enemy fire).
All in all, Panzer Combat II is a highly engaging and immersive wargame that is sure to delight strategy game enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
