phpMakeUpdate is a Subversion repository tool that operates on an intranet web-based platform. It allows for the export of exclusively modified files.
Before using phpMakeUpdate, you should ensure you have a Web server with an installed Subversion repository, along with php 4.3.x or 5.x. This software is only compatible with Unix-like operating systems that support standard commands such as tar, rm, and cp.
Installation of phpMakeUpdate is simple. First, you must uncompress and copy the source tree to your web root directory. It's important to note that the installation must be located on a machine that has your Subversion repository. Make sure the web-user (wwwrun or nobody by Apache) has permissions to execute the tar, svnlook, and svn commands within the phpMakeUpdate/tmp directory (e.g. /bin/tar, /usr/local/bin/svnlook).
Next, you'll need to edit include/init.php and update the path's to important commands such as SVN, SVNLOOK, and TAR. Be sure to check that the user your web server runs as (e.g. apache) has read and write permissions on the compiled/, tmp/, and xajax_js/ directories.
Finally, edit config/replist.txt and add the path to your SVN-Repository (one repository per line). Once you've completed these steps, you can visit the url in your web browser to begin using phpMakeUpdate.
