Pingwinek is a Linux OS created in Poland under the GNU license.
Recently, Pingwinek GNU/Linux 1.0preview3, which goes by the codename 'Light,' has been released. Since the previous preview, numerous improvements have been made to the distribution. Some of the new features include a new boot system called InitNG, X.Org 7.0, kernel 2.6.15, udev 0.81, etcnet, Tango icons, and a new coldplug/hotplug.
One of the most noteworthy characteristics of the latest Pingwinek is its fast boot speed. With a text mode boot time of just 0:34, users get quick access to the system. Full login to GNOME from boot takes only a minute and 25 seconds.
Pingwinek offers two editions - L (LiveCD - recommended) and XL (LiveDVD). The L version comes with GNOME 2.12 and XFce 4.2, while the XL edition has additional desktop environments like the latest Enlightenment 17 and Matchbox. Overall, Pingwinek is an excellent Linux distribution worth checking out.
