PocketLearn Viewers are software applications compatible with various devices such as mobile phones, pocket PCs, and Windows PCs. They enable users to access and view PocketLearn content files built with free or paid tools from PocketLearn.com, which primarily uses HTML.
In addition to the tools, the PocketLearn website also features a categorized and searchable repository of Titles, which are content specifically created for these viewers. The repository is open to users who may download, rate, or add titles to the collection. To create the content, users may use the PocketLearn Title Development Kit (TDK), which is a free and downloadable kit. Alternatively, users may use Flash Card Studio, a commercial tool.
PocketLearn Viewers use the flashcard paradigm, which includes a testing facility that measures how much material has been retained by the user. Since the content is HTML-based, it can contain formatted text, as well as images and audio. Versions of the viewer are available for most modern Java and MIDP phones, too.
Content creators are encouraged to submit their content to the repository, and can assign a license type to their work (e.g. free, demo, trial, commercial, etc.) and determine their own compensation. Lastly, it's worth noting that PocketLearn's website is mobile device-friendly, optimized for browsing from devices such as mobile phones, which makes the software and content easy to provision directly to the device.
