Polld is a straightforward software tool that opens pre-defined files within the /etc/polld directory at regular intervals.
Personally, I use polld for scanning partitions in a card reader that doesn't report card insertion or removal. By using polld, I am able to access those partitions just 10 seconds after insertion, and udev is given the command to create the appropriate device nodes.
In the latest version of polld, there have been a few improvements made. This new release has an LSB init script for better functionality. All in all, polld is a reliable software that you can count on for seamless scans of your partitions in a card reader.
