This software is a 3D space shooter featuring mathematically generated fractal scenery and models.
Once you feel comfortable, you can up the ante by increasing the difficulty to "Insane," resulting in faster-paced gameplay that'll truly put your skills to the test. Achieving a high score requires a combination of precise shooting, quick reaction time, and strategic item collection. You can also attempt to exploit the chain reaction feature, which results in a never-ending chainblow, ultimately leading to a level completion if it reaches the required threshold (planned for future campaigns).
In terms of system requirements, recent drivers are a must. If you encounter any issues, try updating your graphics card driver first. Your video memory should be at least 256 MB, though 512 MB is recommended for bigger screen resolutions. The developer plans on lowering these requirements to 128 MB if possible.
Polynomial has been known to work well with certain video cards, including NVidia GeForce 9800, 9500, 8800, 5600(?), 280, 295, and similarly recent models. It has also worked well with ATI Radeon HD 4650 (512 MB), 4850, 4870, 3800 (with the latest drivers as of May 2009; older drivers may cause issues), and similarly recent models. Should you encounter issues with a compatible video card, submit a bug report following the included instructions; the developer is known for quick fixes.
Note that Polynomial is not compatible with most onboard graphics cards (especially GMA) and older models (specifically Radeon 1300, 1600) due to lacking required features. Overall, Polynomial is a unique and visually stunning game that'll provide an entertaining challenge for space shooter fans.
