PonyProg is a simple to use serial device programmer that comes with a friendly graphical interface, and is supported on both Intel Linux and Windows platforms.
PonyProg's extensive list of features includes support for various EEPROM types such as Siemens SDE2516, SDA2546, SDA3546 EEPROM, amongst others. It allows auto-detection of EEPROM capacity, detection of some old 24XX EEPROM's bank roll-over capability, and writing of lock bits to protect the AVR microcontroller from reading.
Additionally, PonyProg has an excellent memory manipulation ability, with the feature to read and write various file formats, including Intel Hex, Motorola S-Record, and CSM files. Along with these, PonyProg supports a custom E²P format that stores EEPROM characteristics, comments, and memory content simultaneously with the CRC. The software also has improved buffer editing features, both text and hexadecimal, and allows for working with Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT/2000/XP, and Linux.
With new releases, PonyProg continues to improve and enhance its capabilities, with specific features like parameterizing lock dir and ttyS device name, adding an automatic read of security bits, and improving the speed of the driver for direct I/O with WinNT/2000/XP, among others.
Overall, PonyProg is an excellent software for those who require easy-to-use and immensely versatile serial device programming capabilities. It definitely deserves a spot in your software arsenal!
