PositiveSMS V2 is a free Java desktop tool that allows individuals and businesses to send SMS messages from their desktop to mobile phones. It has been tested on PIII Windows 98, XP, and requires Java Runtime Environment.
The software comes with a phone book and message history feature. It can send up to 3 messages per second. However, delivery reports and advanced features such as timestamps are not available in this version. PositiveSMSV2 includes bulk SMS, Unicode messaging, flash SMS, and picture SMS. Picture SMS is limited to black and white pictures only, which are charged 3 credits per picture. For sending Unicode messages, the user's keyboard has to be set to the language they wish to send the SMS in. Unicode messages are limited to 70 characters, while normal English non-Latin character messages comply with the 160 GSM std.
Positive SMS has no setup fees, monthly fees, license fees, maintenance, or training requirements. Instead, users only pay per SMS. Additionally, the software is backed up by a website where the same username and password could be used to log in. The website version also accommodates WAP bookmarks, business cards, online phone book, message history, reporting, and Unicode SMS for EU, Middle East, and Asia.
PositiveSMS also includes FirefoxIE SMS (extension/toolbar) in the latest FirefoxIE upgrade using the SMS warehouse platform. This enables users to send SMS from their FirefoxIE Browser using the same web-based platform as PositiveSMS. Overall, Positive SMS is an excellent tool for individuals and businesses looking to send SMS from their desktops with ease.
