Prattle lets you control Adium through your mobile phone, enabling easy messaging and communication management from afar.
However, Prattle has some limitations that can be a bit frustrating. For one, it doesn't offer incoming file notification or file sending capabilities. You also can't change your status, and it doesn't display information on accounts properly. This can make it hard to determine which account on your phone refers to which user on your contact list, especially if a user has multiple accounts.
Uninstalling Prattle is an easy but manual process. There's no uninstaller, but you can remove the relevant files from your computer and phone. For instance, to uninstall Prattle, remove "~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Prattle.AdiumPlugin" from your home directory and delete the Prattle program from your phone.
It's worth noting that Prattle works on Nokia 7610 and Nokia 6260, but not on Sony Ericsson T610/T616/T618, T628/T630, Z600/Z60, and P800 due to missing Java Bluetooth API. The latest release of Prattle includes a variety of updates and improvements. It now supports Unicode (UTF-8), notifies you of new messages, and displays messages in order. Additionally, it is compatible with Adium 0.8 and Java MIDP 2.0.
To use Prattle, both your computer and mobile device must have Bluetooth enabled. Additionally, since Prattle is written in Java MIDP 1.0, you need a Java-compatible phone. Overall, Prattle is an excellent tool for Adium users who want to receive and respond to messages from their mobile devices without interrupting their activities on the computer.
