ProcMeter3 is a software designed for system monitoring that provides various graphical representations.
APM provides Advanced Power Management information, but only if configured in the kernel. Biff, on the other hand, monitors the email inbox and displays the number of waiting emails and their size. Date_Time displays current dates and times and how long it has been since the last time the system was booted.
DiskUsage shows the percentage of disk used and the amount of free space for each local disk that the program finds on startup. LogFile monitors the number of lines, size, and rate of increase of specific log files. Memory shows the amount of memory being used for programs, buffers, caches, and the memory that is free.
Network displays network devices and the amount of traffic seen on each one. It can detect any available device automatically at start up. Processes shows the load average, the number of running processes, and the number of processes starting. ProcMeter itself can also provide information about the program.
Sensors provides information on specific hardware sensors, specifically temperature and fan speed. However, this feature requires appropriate sensor hardware and kernel patch, version 2.6 kernel or higher. Statistics displays statistics about low-level system functionalities, such as CPU usage, disk usage, swapping, and paging. Similarly, VM_Statistics provides low-level system statistics on virtual memory, specifically the swapping and paging behavior. It is applicable only for kernel version 2.5 or higher.
Stat-CPU shows statistics about individual CPU usage, with support for SMP machines. Stat-Disk provides insight into individual disk usage with support for up to four disks, while Stat-Intr shows statistics on individual interrupts, with support for up to 32 interrupts. Uname shows detailed system information from the uname program, hostname, and Linux kernel version.
Wireless displays information specific to wireless network devices, with automatic detection of available devices at startup. Longrun provides Transmeta Crusoe processor information with support for longrun, and requires the kernel hardware and CPUID support. ACPI provides Advanced Configuration and Power Interface information, only applicable if ACPI is enabled in the Linux kernel and there is appropriate hardware. This can report battery information and thermal capabilities.
For each output, users can access properties information that helps clarify the meaning of the output and provides other relevant properties. Overall, ProcMeter is a versatile software program that provides immense functionalities to users, with the flexibility to personalize the monitoring and information functionalities according to their needs.
