The Project-based Calendaring System is a project manager and groupware calendaring tool that enables the coordination of project schedules and events. This system helps keep track of important deadlines and events while increasing the group’s productivity.
For individuals who are often on the road, PBCS also enables syncing of appointments into a Palm PDA, making it ideal for busy professionals. The latest release of PBCS includes a variety of new features and bug fixes that further enhance the user experience.
New features include the validation of all viewable user pages, ensuring that all pages are DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional compliant. This validation will now be checked to ensure continued compliance. A configurable language feature has also been added to the config.php, enabling users to select preferred languages.
Other bugs that have been fixed include the issue with the show user groups only feature, which required users to create a hidden group with the permission 'Do not show groups which the user is not a member of' to implement properly. Additionally, the navigation and calendar frames have been validated to the loose 'DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional' to remove underlying bugs.
The group and user manager have also undergone fixes due to HTML validation and a patch sent in by a user named Raphael. The installer has been significantly improved, with the new install being a true new install in terms of MySQL data. Tables will now be dropped when re-installing, and the installer finalization has been vastly improved.
The latest release of PBCS also includes a Portuguese translation donated by Christian H. Klingenschmid. Overall, PBCS is an excellent software that is highly recommended for those looking for an effective project-based calendaring system with a range of features and robust bug fixes.
