This software is a Live CD for desktops that is derived from the testing branch of Debian. It allows users to test the latest features and updates before they are officially released, without having to install them on their system.
Designed for a large public, both PureOS and PureOSlight can also be used as liveUSBs or installed onto your hard-disk. PureOS is a complete liveCD, with a whopping 700 Mo storage capacity. It is packed with all the apps you need to enjoy your stay in the GNU/Linux world, such as KDE, Iceweasel, Icedove, OpenOffice.org, Songbird, VLC, and K3B.
In comparison, PureOSlight is a smaller liveCD, with 300 Mo storage capacity, making it perfect for users who prefer a more streamlined set of applications. The liveCD features Xfce, Iceweasel, Icedove, Abiword, Gnumeric, Exaile, making it a great option for more lightweight or less demanding applications.
Both of these liveCDs are developed based on Debian's (testing branch) and are created with the Linux-Live scripts. Moreover, they are distributed under GPL license, meaning you can use, share, and modify them as you see fit.
